Criteria for Applying

You must satisfy these criteria to be considered for the program

  • Student of a university in a country of the former Soviet Union, majoring in Physics, Engineering or (as an exception) Computer Science. Specialization in Accelerator Physics and Technology is preferred.
  • At least one full year at the university at the moment of applying.
  • At least 4.0 Grade Point Average.
  • Fluent in English.

Application Process

Please note that no personal information may be sent over email! Such information includes address, date of birth, etc. Deviation from this rule may result in withdrawal from the program. Use the provided fax number.

All communication should be in English. Do not use Russian characters in the Application Form or elsewhere.

To apply for the program you must submit all information from the list below by the due date.

  • Application Form This is a secure online form. In case you have difficulty filling the online form you may fax a printed version. The goal of the application is to demonstrate your qualifications and interest in science and research.
  • Official University Transcripts. The transctipts should be sent to us by fax from the official university number.
  • Letters of Recommendation. You must submit two letters of recommendation either by fax or email. We prefer to see letters from your internship mentors or university professors.
  • Certification of your fluency in English. A letter from the university stating the number of hours in English courses, grades, and certifying student’s ability to communicate in English. The letter should be sent to us by fax from the official university number.
  • Your Essay. This is specified on the application form.

Deadlines

  • Deadline for submitting all required documents is February, 15 2008
  • We will inform you of the application status by March, 7 2008

After Preliminary Selection

  • After initial consideration the selected candidates will need to pass an interview with a PARTI committee member. Technically the interviews will be organized via a web-cam or videoconferencing system.
  • The selected students will receive offer letters from fermilab, and upon acceptance of the offer, a visa questionnaire. Delay with responding to each letter by more than one week may result in withdrawal from the program.
