Dates
The official duration of the program is from June 28, 2010 to September 3, 2010. Because of possible delays with the visa process, deviations from these dates by 2-3 weeks are allowable. The total duration of the internship can not be less than 10 weeks, and all internships must end by September 30.
Compensation
An intern in the PARTI program receives financial support, based on a 40-hour workweek. The compensation in 2010 is expected at the level of $440 per week.

Standard US taxes will be withheld from the pay, as is customary with all Fermilab employees.

Summer interns receive no paid sick leave, and no vacation. You must arrange for your own medical insurance at your expense. Interns will receive their first paycheck after about two weeks of stay, so they must have enough cash on hand to pay for their expenses during that period.

Benefits
  • Your housing costs are paid by the program - we pay for the rent of an apartment that you share with other interns or for a dormitory room.
  • Your apartment is fully furnished, including: furniture, linens, pots and pans, utensils, plates, cups, etc.
  • You will have one car per 4 interns, which the program pays for. You pay for the gas. The rental includes unlimited mileage (in-state) and insurance. You must possess a valid driver license to drive the car.
  • We will arrange your transportation to and from the airport.
  • The laboratory will also provide bicycles if requested and pre-paid SIM cards for cell phones.
Expectations
  • To adhere to the job duties and to observe the required time and attendance standards, as defined by your supervisor.
  • To attend program activities.
  • To attend the weekly physics and engineering lecture series.
  • To prepare and present oral report at the end of the session. (The reports will be published on the web.)
  • To conduct yourself in a responsible and professional manner.
  • To follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
